Airport construction barricades
Work on an airfield follows FAA rules, not highway rules. The barricades have to stay under 18 inches next to open safety areas, fold if a wing hits them and stay put in jet blast. Here is how to spec them.
Barricades and lights
- Airport barricades
FAA height limit, gaps, ballast, flags and placement.
- Airport barricade lights
Red lights, 10-ft spacing, hours, batteries and counts.
The rules behind these guides
- FAA AC 150/5370-2G, section 2.20
- low-profile barricades, gaps, flags and red lights during construction
- Construction Safety and Phasing Plan (CSPP)
- the airport's own plan that names the barricade type and spacing for each phase
